Just absent minded…

Ya can’t make this stuff up…

I read about it all the time and while I always find it humorous, it always seems fabricated until it happens to you.

I’m on the phone one morning last week talking with my mother. She’s having trouble pairing her new hearing aids with her cell phone. It appears that particular phone isn’t compatible with the program so Dad is temporarily pairing it to her iPad. OK.

I volunteer an older iPhone that still works well to see if it might handle her hearing aid ap. If so, I’ll program the phone and she can switch. Fine.

I’m doing some book work on my computer so I jump up and head to the bedroom to retrieve the old phone and get it charging so I can take it to mom.

I get to the bedroom and completely forget why I’m there, but figure since I’m near the bathroom I may as well relieve myself. I remember the phone and think that as soon as I’m done I’ll put it on the charger. Really??

Nope - I finish and start thinking about a cup of coffee so I head to the kitchen. Pour a half cup of the morning leftover and stick it in the microwave. I happen to notice the Keurig needs water so I head to the refrigerator to get some water and refill it. It’ll save me time later. I forget about the coffee in the microwave until I hear the reminder beep. Still haven’t gotten the phone or put it on the charger.

Finally I retrieve the heated cup of coffee and immediately head back to the bedroom and put the phone on the charger.

The good news is that I’m sure I don’t have Alzheimer's or dementia because I eventually got back on the original plan.

Now if I can just remember what I was doing before all this started……..
