Blogging – Why??

Blogging - Why?

On occasion throughout the years I’ve written down various experiences, observations and introspection.

I never really had an end game, just thought some of my musings might be worth remembering later in life.

Lots of folks journal, for the sake of being able to look back and revisit events - large and small - or sometimes for posterity sake.

I guess I’m inclined the same way.

As I get older and realize how much I’ve lived, and think about the many things I’ve done and learned, I recognize that my time to raise children and be an influence on their lives was quite short. As they were growing up, I worked all the time, tried to be a good father, did the best I could, but just like that they were grown and gone! (Well, they did come and go for a number of years after the initial exodus, but that didn’t really count much! They had their own lives by that point.)

It is my hope and prayer that perhaps something I record, might resonate along the way. (If they read it!)

Hopefully with you too! Maybe it’ll just present a different perspective. Food for thought.

Finally, I don’t consider myself a good, or even qualified writer. I’m not a deep thinker. If you read my posts, you’ll discover that quick enough! But I do feel I have a lot of “street smarts” that I’ve picked up along the way. Maybe something that I share will help you avoid making some stupid mistake I made or even give you something to smile about!

I intend to post at least once a week for a while and see if I have enough material to keep it interesting. I’ll try to have a new post up every Monday evening. There may be the occasional random post throughout the week as well. We’ll just have to see!

Just FYI - I’d like to hear from you. If something I write resonates or even if you find it objectionable - let me know.

Be thoughtful with your response!

Just absent minded…

Ya can’t make this stuff up…

I read about it all the time and while I always find it humorous, it always seems fabricated until it happens to you.

I’m on the phone one morning last week talking with my mother. She’s having trouble pairing her new hearing aids with her cell phone. It appears that particular phone isn’t compatible with the program so Dad is temporarily pairing it to her iPad. OK.

I volunteer an older iPhone that still works well to see if it might handle her hearing aid ap. If so, I’ll program the phone and she can switch. Fine.

I’m doing some book work on my computer so I jump up and head to the bedroom to retrieve the old phone and get it charging so I can take it to mom.

I get to the bedroom and completely forget why I’m there, but figure since I’m near the bathroom I may as well relieve myself. I remember the phone and think that as soon as I’m done I’ll put it on the charger. Really??

Nope - I finish and start thinking about a cup of coffee so I head to the kitchen. Pour a half cup of the morning leftover and stick it in the microwave. I happen to notice the Keurig needs water so I head to the refrigerator to get some water and refill it. It’ll save me time later. I forget about the coffee in the microwave until I hear the reminder beep. Still haven’t gotten the phone or put it on the charger.

Finally I retrieve the heated cup of coffee and immediately head back to the bedroom and put the phone on the charger.

The good news is that I’m sure I don’t have Alzheimer's or dementia because I eventually got back on the original plan.

Now if I can just remember what I was doing before all this started……..
